Being out in the backcountry for a long time can also develop a keen appreciation for small amenities like a shower or washroom. With the increase in products that help bring the kitchen sink on long trips, showers that are heated and powered by a 4WD are becoming more common.
Jeremy Womack, owner of Expedition Ops, has created this simple but genius product which not only provides a clean standing area for an outdoor shower, it also provides a smooth standing surface on gravel and rocks. Womack own's a Lexus LX470 (Toyota LandCruiser 80 Series) which is outfitted for long trips and most times you'll find him living out of his LX.

Materials that are used to create the shower mat have been sourced and reclaimed. Redwood is known for it's ability to dry quickly and is native to the USA, it has also been reclaimed from old pickle, wine and water tanks. The copper has also been reclaimed from the construction industry and if copper cannot be reclaimed then stainless steel is substituted.
The nice thing about using redwood is it doesn't splinter or become furry like other woods and remains soft to the touch with age. This mat will be available to ship in the middle of next month (May 2011).
