Ever want connectivity when you don't have bars?
When you're in the backcountry having a SPOT device is a great idea. We've already had to put our SPOT 2.0 to the test when there was a very serious incident that required a heli-rescue of an injured fellow outside our group. The great thing about the SPOT device is you're able to send a simple text message or email to your closest of friends or family that lets them know you're OK or in trouble. With this new SPOT Connect, you're able to pair your cell phone to send your own text messages, short emails, and update your Facebook/twitter account.
These days smart phones come with bluetooth to connect to a plethora of accessories. The SPOT Connect connects wirelessly via Bluetooth with the corresponding downloaded app on the phone.
Now you can update everyone about your life without bars... no thanks!
The one thing that would be excellent in the future would be having the ability to upload photo's, create forum posts or update this news site!..(hint!). You still get all the features that are available on the SPOT 2.0 which includes; SOS, HELP, Check-in/OK and Track Progress with the addition of the social network updates.
It's amazing to see a life saving device interface with our modern day cell phones which just opens the door to incredible possibilities of portable and wearable technology.
