Default Biggest I can fit with no lift?

2006 Tacoma. No lift. What's the biggest tire size I can fit? Obviously the less run the better.

I am looking for answers from experience. I don't care what you heard on the internet.

From what i have heard, 265/75r16 will fit no issues. But I have heard different things about 285/75r16. I've heard they will work fine with no lift, just a spacer, and then I've heard they won't work at all.

Any insight on this? I don't mind putting on a spacer. Don't want a lift. This truck is for camping/100% functionality. I don't want to cut the truck(mudflaps can be removed). I want it to be drivable on and off road comfortably.

I can answer that a 265/75 R16 fits no problem on a stock truck with no rubbing or cutting involved. I'm not sure about wider tires, you may get away with them with the right offset wheel, but as my truck sits, there's about a half-inch of space between the tire and the upper control arm/ball joint. Wider on stock wheels would be questionable to impossible.

I had my lift off for a week and my 265 duratracs didn't rub at all, even with mud flaps.

most people with 285's and a 3" lift on tw have had to remove mud flaps, trim the inner guards and for full articulation most do the cab mount chop. I'm sure at stock height it would require all this plus as you mentioned wheel spacers or new rims.

For camping/100% drivability I would go with 265's as they should require no modifications, better fuel mpg's, better braking/acceleration etc for daily driving.

However 285's do look bad ass on tacomas/ have a bigger footprint and slightly more ground clearance so its a tough choice! I know I spent a long time deciding...

I might be convinced to part with my 265/75/16 KM2's with ~7000kms on them. I want 33s!!

265x75R16. Had them. No issues at all.

Went 285x75R16 with a 3" lift. Even with mudflap removal and hacking the fender, I still get mad rubbing.

Need to go at it with a knife again.

Then there's that body mount they keep talking about.

255/85/16 fit no problems with stock wheels, I had to chop the cab mount because I am running them on 4 inch backspaces wheels.

What about on a 17" wheel? I'm planning on keeping my stock wheels and I Know the stock size tire is 265 65R17, would a slight move up to 265 70R17 rub at all without trimming? It looks like that is the closest I can get to a stock size in the Duratracs.

    I've heard 275/70/17

I got 265/75/16 and that's for sure the largest I can run.
